New Legislation for 2025

Certification Changes

July 1 2025 there are some changes to the state certification timeline, requirements, etc for educators.

Please see the attached alert for additional information, but the main changes are:

1. Initial certification will be valid for ten (10) years

2. Educator Certification levels change from a three tier process to a two tier process (Initial and Professional)

3. New requirements to be eligible for professional certification: document at least 50 school months in CT, have met TEAM requirements and hold a master’s degree

4. Expanded grade added to elementary endorsements (005, 013, 305) PreK to Grade Six
